Technology Used

We used a lot of technology whilst producing our film this included programs such as ‘eblogger’, ‘adobe Photoshop’ ‘youtube’ ‘pinnacle studios’ these were all specific and specialist programs to each specific part of the task.

•We’ve used Photoshop to edit fonts and images for our film,

•we used eblogger to post the stages of the task in separated and detailed blogs

•We used You tube to research film openings and choose the institution of our film.

• we used Pinnacle studios to edit the final film and piece together each section of our film

•We also used the setting of the dark room and developed all the photos using dark room technology

•We used Flip HD cameras to film our animatic

•Panasonic video recorder to film our final production

•And a Vaio editing laptop to complete edit the film by cutting, rearranging, and making over our final film production.

Forms and Convetions evaluation

This is the beginning scene of the film and includes photos of other ‘victims’ which the stalker has rid of. The fact that their water is suppose to represent their possible death and although the redness of the water is not convincingly blood, and is not supposed to be does represent death. The camera work of this scene has been made so the camera is getting a ‘birds eye’ view and looking down on the sink’ the scene also identifies the genre of the film as being a horror

This is the title font, we chose the title I spy, eye spy as the film is based on a stalker and although the title originates from a childhood game the sinister, eerie feel the title has adds to the atmosphere of the film. The font we chose although elegant and not stereotypically horror, or thriller creates the idea of going against the nursery rhyme in a sinister way.

The word play in the title also adds to the stalker storyline the film has, with the words I, and eye . The title is suppose to highlight the fact that the stalker himself is spying and hes always watching.

The font we used for the names of the people in the film was chosen to enlighten the fact that the film is part of the thriller genre. The font was chosen from the website http://www.dafont.com/ and is named ‘Clive barker’  we then edited the font using Photoshop to change the background from white to black and the writing from black to white. These titles roll over in black scenes yet not only the soundtrack is heard in these scenes and sounds from the setting of the dark room is played whilst these scenes are shown

This scene begins with the stalker taking a freshly developed photo of the new victim out of the developer and hanging it on the wall to dry. The stalker is deliberately not seen in the first two minutes of the film to add mystery to the film for when the stalkers identity is finally made clear. The scene also brings to light that the opening setting is a photographic dark room.

This scene filmed in the dark room, brings to light just how obsessive the stalker character is because of the amount of photographs he has taken of the young girl. The camera angle of this shot is level to the photographs so the audience has the perception of seeing everything, a scan shot is used also for the audience to be able to see all of the stalkers photographs. All of the scenes are very dark to add to the sinister atmosphere and the only real colours seen throughout the two minute opening are black white and red.

This screen shot comes from the scene where the camera zooms into this photo of the victim until it fades in and out  in a different tone and lighting technique. This scene is the stalker praying on his victim and the fade in and out editing technique almost appears as if the stalker is closing and opening his eyes, and creates an even more sinister light for the audience on the stalkers character.

This is the title of the film written in the red paint seen in the sink in a previous scene the title is quite stereotypically repeated more than once in the first opening sequence of a film using different techniques. The dripping effect used coming from the paint although no entirely is supppose to appear sinister and be represented with blood so the audience are able to question what the stalker has planned for his next victim. This scenes camera work is taken from a lower angle and scans the writing and lighting is used flashing across the screen revealing a shadow of the stalkers character.

This scene is found at the end of the film and is the first clue the audience has to identifying the stalkers character. The scene features the stalker wiping the title from the previous scene as if he is trying to clear evidence. This scene is quick and only last seconds as the full identity of the stalker is not yet to be identified. This is one of the last scenes and sets the rest of the film up to be extremely sinister and full of suspense

Audience Feedback

After we had finished edditing our film, we had to present the film sequence to our peers and ask for positive, negitive and constructive critisism, we were given all three types of critism and i think this helped us evaluate our ideas and think about what we could of done if we were given another oppurtunity.

we were told that the camera in some scenes was shakey and this was sometimes distracting, and although we did want it to almost feel like a home video aggreeing with my peers we could of used a camera stand whilst filming. yet as it was only a minority of the time I dont beleive it could of been too distracting as it were.

Positive comments were made on the music and soundtrack of the film and how the scenes flowed from one slide to the next we wre told that the built up tension that was made throughout the sequence from begining to the end was effective and made them want to watch more, this meant it had been successful in gripping the audience in to wanting to watch the film and not "walk out of the cinema" as the cliff hanger like opening added mystery and eeriness added to this we were told that the overall atmospher that the film oepning obtained was successful and the film had nailed its genre on the head.

We had constructive critism on the titles as some of our peers were not quite sure on the success of the title scenes nor some of the fonts used, and I would like to say that if we had more time we would of worked harder to find a font that work continuously well with the whole genre of the film instead of changing fonts in between and using the "presents..." slide as in experience this wasnt quite authentic.

overall however I am pleased with the feedback we received and happy with  the fact our peers were able to suss the idea of the stakjer quite quickly and reallt undersood the type of genre and story line the film under took they also thought that the tile of "i spy, eye spy" worked with the story line annd with the vocals at the beggining really understood the gothicness that the title obtained to make it become thriller worthy.

editting!

After we had finished filming our film, we then had to edit using the program Pinicle, we eddited the titles, scenes, transitions, music and added the institutions to our two minute film opening using our schools edditing laptops The titles were the first things added to the film production and they were eddited and saved as images by using adobe photoshop we used a sharp white font with a black background to add to the horror genre and erriness of the thriller film. we used the same font to narate the production of the film "JPO productions", the actors and the title of the film "I spy, Eye spy" in seerate slides, so they appeared quicky and one after another. during the scene where our titles appeard vocal music was used created by singing "I spy with my little eye" this added authenticity because the exact relativness that it  had the film and the film title. also we timed it so the singing began when the title slides appeard and ended when they finished and the slides changhed to appropriate lyric which also added to the authenticity. If we had more time we would of used different fonts for some of the titles and animated them so they would of moved on and off the screen, unfortunatley we didnt.
We used different fonts for the names of the actors etc. but still kept it tied with the horror genre by repeating the black background and white writing, and also although different a sharp gothic font.


We were clever enough to film most of the scenes in a corosponding order, yet cutting and edditing was still crucial to enesure the film run smoothly. we eddited the film so it appeard 'cutty' and 'snappy' with scenes changing quicky to make it appear repettitive and as if what 'the stalkers' doing happened often. transitions were eddited and close ups were made onto photographs of the victime which were then faded in and out to appear as if the stalker looked at the same photo day in day out. these scenes were effective because although possibly not seen often in horror productions added majourly to the authenticity. to add to the repetition of the scenes, snipets of the same slide were repeated more than once to add tension and suspence for the audience to imagine what will happen next, the snipet repeatated included a light flickering this created the idea of drawn out periods of time with the 'stalker' doing the same things daily. Another part of our edditing was shortening and therefore speeding up and also cropping scenes which included 'shakey' camera, or bad quality filming. Which was also curicial.

The institution we used was New Line Cinema which we had to film in order to include it in our two minute film opening (copyright free!) this insured the authenticiy of the film because with it our film appeard like it was produced by a major production company.
As i've mentioned early the rest of the soundtrack to the film except for 'electricity' sounds at the begining of the sequence was taken from our animatic production as the music worked perfectly when timed with each transition the eeriness and overall on edge persona of the soundtrack worked well with fractions of the film being in near enough silence and tenser slides being 'full-on' noice. although we didnt use any scripts or talking parts in the sequence we thought this was relevant because the stalker nor the victim hadn't been identified within the first two minutes purposely to add suspence for when both characters are revealed later on in the film, we did use noices which the audience were entitled to guess the sound and then enviroment that the film would open in being the school dark room. we used the sounds of developer pouring, cutting sounds, and footsteps and machinary to add suspence to something the audience could only question.

The edditing process was one not to be taken lightly and took our group a long time to make the film even appear remotley authentic, and although if we had more time we would of changed bits and pieces overall the experience was a good one
